Day 2: Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades Valley: 180km.
After breakfast in the hotel, we’ll leave to explore the fascinating Dades and Rose Valleys. Our first stop will be at Skoura to walk within the Birds Valley and visit the beautiful and well preserved Kasbah of Ameridil. Then we’ll continue to the village of Kalaa M’gouna, famous for its roses and rose products. A rose festival is held here every May, when the roses are harvested. Since this is the road of the thousands Kasbahs you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take some beautiful pictures. Our journey continues to the Dades Gorge where you enjoy seeing the amazing Rock formation called “the monkey Toes” and the standing Kasbah of Kasbah Ait yul. After that we’ll drive to the hotel. Overnight in our Hotel/Riad. Dinner bed and breakfast. DBB.
Day 3: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga:
After breakfast in the hotel, you’ll see the journey back through the valley past the “the monkey toes”, and the still-standing 19th century Kasbah of Ait Yul. Leaving the Dades valley towards Tinrghir and the Todra valley watch out for the panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley. Once at the Gorge you can walk under the 300m high red cliff, where many rock-climbers spend their time. Continuing on to Erfoud and Rissani where you’ll take lunch, we shortly after arrive at the village of Merzouga – the home of your guide Youssef – where your camel will be awaiting you. You’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea and a turban (desert scarf) before you mount your camel, guided by an experienced Camel Guide, to explore within the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi. Here you will spend your first night under the stars, or if you prefer, in a traditional Berber nomad tent.
Day 4: Merzouga – Alnif – Draa Vallery – Ouarzazate:
After breakfast with the Bedouin family you’ll peacefully camel-trek back to the village of Merzouga. En-route you won’t fail to appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes – changing with the light as the day progresses. Arriving late morning back in Merzouga and after shower in the guesthouse, we’ll leave for Rissani – once Sijilmassa – the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty, the current ruling family. With most of the woman veiled, and men hooded, this is a very traditional Moroccan town. We’ll continue driving towards Agdez, via Alnif and Tazarine, before we get to the fascinating Draa Valley at the edge of the Atlas Mountains, along which lay hundreds of Berber Kasbahs. You should arrive at your accommodation in the evening.
Day: 5 Ouarzazate - Film Studio – Ait ben-haddou – Marrakech:
After a luxurious breakfast at Ouarzazate, we we’ll head to Marrakech via Atlas Mountain, enjoying seeing the panoramic view of the palm grove and the scenic moon-like landscape with the beautiful contrast of the Berber villages, an area that has been a popular location for Hollywood films, including The Last Temptation of Christ, Jewel of the Nile, and the Mummy. Our journey will continue through the majestic Tizi n’tichka Pass (2260m) over the High Atlas Mountains, before arriving at your accommodation in Marrakech, where the tour ends.
